Ryan Moore Back to Back Golden Slippers?

Ryan Moore will partner hot favourite Storm Boy in next Saturday’s Golden Slipper.

Coolmore announced on Thursday morning that Moore will ride the undefeated Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained colt.

James Mcdonald will partner Switzerland, who is trained by Chris Waller

Coolmore’s Tom Magnier said it was a 50/50 call and both jockeys were happy to ride either horse.

It is understood McDonald’s association with the Waller stable was an important factor in the decision.

McDonald will get to choose which colt he rides after the Slipper when Ryan Moore heads back to Europe.

Ryan Moore claimed last year’s Slipper for Coolmore aboard Shinzo, who started a $16 chance.

Ryan Moore the World’s Best Jockey?

Ryan Moore became the four-time winner of the LONGINES World’s Best Jockey Award in 2023 cementing his place as one of the very best jockeys not just in the world right now but of all time.

Ryan Moore last December was awarded the LONGINES World’s Best Jockey crown for 2023, tying Frankie Dettori for the most victories in the prestigious award.

Ryan Moore was the inaugural winner of the award in 2014 and again won it in 2016 and 2021.

Ryan Moore was officially announced as the winner during a special ceremony and presentation at the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races Gala Dinner at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Ryan Moore claimed the title with victories in eight of the “World’s Top 100 Group 1 Races”.

Ryan Moore’s qualifying victories in 2023 were in the LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (Wellington), Tattersalls Gold Cup (Luxembourg), Epsom Derby (Auguste Rodin), St James’s Palace Stakes (Paddington), Coral-Eclipse (Paddington), Qatar Sussex Stakes (Paddington), Irish Champion Stakes (Auguste Rodin) and the Breeders’ Cup Turf (Auguste Rodin).

Ryan Moore won this year’s award comfortably, totalling 156 points, 36 more than Dettori (120), while James McDonald, who won the title last year, was third with 116 points. The scoring process rewards jockeys for finishing in the top three of races.

Castelvecchio x Rakitino Filly

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVVvCKS583w

This Filly is by Arrowfield Stud’s exciting young stallion Castelvecchio, a multiple Group 1 winner on the track. He was an excellent winner of the Inglis Millennium before going on to win the Group 1 Champagne Stakes, he would go on to even greater heights in his 3yo season winning the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas before running 2nd in the Cox Plate as a 3yo at weight
for age.

Rakitino is by champion sire Not A Single Doubt, a winner herself a 1200m she possessed plenty of speed and is a ½ sister to the 2yo winning stakes placed Zellindi. This Filly reminded us an awful lot of her dam sire Not A Single Doubt, she was well put together, a great shape, well balanced, athletic and very much in the mould of what he threw throughout his career at stud.

The Filly was presented at the Inglis Classic Sale by Rheinwood Pastoral, in recent times Rheinwood have produced the highly exciting colt Libertad a winner of the Group 3 Widden Kindergarten Stakes at 2 and the Group 3 San Domenico (just like Anders) highlighting their ability to produce top class racehorses to compete at the highest level.

She will be trained by David Pfieffer at Warwick Farm, Sydney that will see her have every opportunity. This Filly is eligible for the lucrative Inglis race series and BOBS bonus scheme

Anders-x-Happy-Pilgrim

Anders X Happy Pilgrim Colt

This Colt is by Widden Stud’s very exciting young stallion Anders, son of champion sire Not A Single Doubt. Anders first yearlings have been hugely popular at the sale in 2024 with his
yearlings averaging $194k at the January Magic Millions sale making this colt great value.

His dam Happy Pilgrim herself a 3 time winning half sister to Snipzu the Group and Stakes placed dam of 5 runners for 5 winners to date including 3 individual Group and Stakes
horses, most recently the twice Group 1 placed (Blue Diamond and Inglis Sires Produce) Don Corleone.

This Colt is a ½ brother to our very promising 2yo trial winner Private Harry, a horse we have a very high opinion of after winning his trial very impressively beating the subsequent
Blue Diamond Prelude Group 3 placed Holmes A Court in the process.

The Colt was presented at the Inglis Classic Sale by Rheinwood Pastoral, in recent times Rheinwood have produced the highly exciting colt Libertad a winner of the Group 3 Widden
Kindergarten Stakes at 2 and the Group 3 San Domenico (just like Anders) highlighting their ability to produce top class racehorses to compete at the highest level.

He is a quality early looking sprinting type and shared a lot of similar characteristics to his brother Private Harry. He had a great action and looks very precocious.

He is trained by Nathan Doyle out of the excellent state of the art Newcastle facilities just like his brother. This Colt is eligible for the lucrative Inglis race series and BOBS bonus scheme.
