The process of buying racehorse shares in a 2024 and following its journey from a yearling to a potential champion involves several key steps. Let’s break it down:

  1. Racehorse Shares, Attending Yearling Sales:
    • The process begins with attending thoroughbred yearling sales. These sales, held throughout Australasia, showcase young potential racehorses (yearlings) that are typically around one year old.
    • Bloodstock agents and syndication companies participate in these sales to identify potential racing prospects and inspect thousands of potential racehorses throughout a year to be able to offer up the best racehorse shares for their clients and potential new clients.
  2. Selection Criteria for Racehorse Shares:
    • Bloodstock agents and syndication companies consider various factors when selecting a yearling. These include pedigree (ancestry and family history of success), the physical attributes of the athlete, and the budget of the syndicate members they are trying to target with these racehorse shares.
  3. Veterinary Assessment:
    • Every yearling undergoes a thorough veterinary examination to ensure it meets specific health criteria before any racehorse shares are offered. This includes assessing the horse’s conformation, soundness, and overall health.
  4. Purchasing Racehorse Shares Process:
    • Once a suitable yearling is identified, syndicate members can purchase racehorse shares in the horse. This involves contributing to the purchase price, and in return, each member owns a percentage of the horse.
  5. Post-Purchase Logistics, Buying Racehorse Shares:
    • After purchase, considerations include insurance coverage, transportation to the designated training facility, and nominations for race series, most syndicators will factor these into the racehorse share prices as an all inclusive package.
  6. Breaking In Process after purchasing Racehorse Shares:
    • The yearling you have purchased your racehorse shares in  is sent to a horse breaker or pre-trainer for initial education. The breaking-in process involves introducing the horse to wearing tack, accepting a rider, and basic obedience training.
  7. Training with a Racehorse Trainer after purchasing racehorse shares:
    • The yearling you have purchased your racehorse shares in then moves to the stables of a licensed racehorse trainer for further education and preparation for racing.
    • Trainers focus on fitness, skill development, and adapting the horse to the racing environment.
  8. Syndication and Kurrinda Bloodstock Providing the Best Racehorse Shares:
    • Syndicators like Kurrinda Bloodstock facilitate the syndication process by offering up racehorse shares, making it possible for individuals to own a share in high-quality racehorses.
    • Syndication makes racehorse shares and  the ownership experience more affordable and allows individuals to share the costs and joys of racing with like-minded enthusiasts.
  9. Community and Experience by getting involved in racehorse shares:
    • Once racehorse shares are purchased being part of a syndicate not only provides an opportunity for ownership but also fosters a sense of community. Members share the experience of watching their horse progress and potentially become a successful racehorse.
    • Building relationships with fellow syndicate members creates a supportive and enjoyable environment.
