Meet Richer Or Poorer
Richer or Poorer is a daughter of the ill-fated Spieth (Aquis) out of the Exceed And Excel (Darley Australia) mare Good Times Roll.
Spieth was five time Listed Stakes winning sprinter who many would consider unfortunate not to be a Group 1 winner when running second in both the Group 1 Darley Classic and Group 1 Black Caviar Lightening Stakes. Spieth unfortunately only managed 3 years at stud leaving him with few runners to make his mark as a stallion.
Richer and Poorer’s dam Good Times Roll was a winner herself at 1000m she is a half sister to the Group 3 winning Kevin Heffernan Stakes and Group 3 MRC HDF McNeil Stakes winner Fast ‘N’ Rocking earner of $1.4 million as well as VRC Taj Rossi Series Final Listed Stakes winner Good ‘N’ Fast. Good Times Roll is by enigmatic Exceed and Excel a dual Group 1 winning sprinter- Group 1 Newmarket Handicap and Group 1 Dubai Racing Club Cup at 3, he is a proven Broodmare sire in recent years highlighted by Group 1 Thousand Guineas winner Madame Pommery, Group 1 Toorak Handicap winner Tuvalu and dual Group 1 winning unbeaten 2 year old Ten Sovereigns (Stallion Coolmore Ireland).
Richer and Poorer was purchased from the 2020 Magic Millions yearling sale when presented by Bowness Stud a farm rich steeped in history with a long line of top class winners to come from the farm situated in Young, NSW including the likes of Trapeze Artist (Stallion Widden Stud), Youngstar (Group 1 Queensland Oaks), Funstar (Group 1 Flight Stakes) and Media Award (Group 1 Australasian Oaks).
The Magic Millions Sale recent graduates include multiple Group 1 sprinting sensation Imperatriz, Golden Rose winner Jacquinot (Stallion Widden Stud), Group 1 Thousand Guineas winner Madame Pommery, Group 1 Coolmore Classic winner Espiona, TAB Everest winner Yes Yes Yes (Stallion Coolmore Australia), Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside (Stallion Newgate Farm), 2 year old Magic Millions and Golden Slipper winner Capitalist (Stallion Newgate Farm). Richer and Poorer was a relatively cheap purchase and filly that we always thought with her physique and pedigree would only get better in time.
She was well put together and moved well as an athlete with a great attitude that would stand to her in the future. Richer and Poorer is trained by Kozciusko winning trainer Matthew Dale in the state of the art facilities at Goulburn, NSW
