Life after racing is something we are very passionate about not just for the horses under our care but for all racehorses. We are delighted to get behind the Equimillion, an event set up by Racing NSW and Equestrian Australia for off the track thoroughbreds. We are very proud to be sponsoring Amelia Caulton and her horse Shuffle Up.
We loved their story with Shuffle Up being a 1/2 brother to The Everest winner Giga Kick, a decent horse on his day Shuffle Up ran 2nd in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes and holds a track record at 2000m at the Kensington track. Life for these 2 was not always plain sailing though Amelia first met Shuffle Up through COVID having being unable to return home due to the outbreak she spent a number of months on the farm he was spelling at, every day on her walks (as we were unable to leave the farm with restrictions) he’d come up to the fence to say hello. Amelia followed his career throughout with a few years passing and retirement looming for Shuffle Up Amelia approached his trainer at the yearling sales, interestingly the same yearling sale she looked after and led the multiple Group 1 and Golden Rose winner Militarize through the ring as a yearling. With a bit of negotiating and some Kiwi charm Amelia managed to secure Shuffle Up as a off the track riding horse.
Fast forward a few months and Amelia was airlifted to hospital after having a bad fall off Shuffle Up causing her to break her sacroiliac joint and putting her on crutches for a number of months.
Where most people may have given up or moved the horse on with a lot of persistence (stubbornness) and hard work they are going better than ever competing regularly at shows each weekend. They have formed an amazing bond together one we see throughout the industry at all levels. Its this bond and passion that we share here at Kurrinda Bloodstock that made us very keen to get behind this talented duo.
We wish them all the best at the Equimillion event this weekend in Sydney and look forward to seeing how they fare. Good luck Amelia and Shuffle Up from us all here at the Kurrinda community!

Your feedback means a lot to us and can help others make an informed decision.
