Private Harry’s lineage is a blend of speed and resilience. His sire, Harry Angel, was a distinguished sprinter in Europe, celebrated for his victories in the Group 1 July Cup and Haydock Sprint, earning the title of World Champion Sprinter in 2017. Since retiring to stud, Harry Angel has made a significant impact with his first Southern Hemisphere runners, producing multiple stakes-winning juveniles, including Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Tom Kitten.
Private Harry’s dam, Happy Pilgrim, is a three-time winning mare and a half-sister to Snipzu, the dam of Don Corleone, who notably secured placings in both the Group 1 Blue Diamond and Inglis Sires Produce.
Bred by Rheinwood Pastoral, a boutique farm in Mittagong, New South Wales, Private Harry was presented at the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale. His athleticism and impeccable conformation caught the eye of Kurrinda Bloodstock and Doyle Racing, who acquired him for $115,000.
Private Harry’s introduction to competitive racing has been nothing short of spectacular. He commenced his career with a series of barrier trials, showcasing his readiness and aptitude. His official race debut occurred on November 2, 2024, at Newcastle, where he contested a 900-meter Maiden Plate. Building on this momentum, Private Harry entered a Benchmark 64 race over 1100 meters at Hawkesbury on November 21, 2024. He dominated the field, securing victory by an impressive 7.1 lengths. His next assignment was at Rosehill on December 7, 2024, in a Benchmark 72 over 1200 meters, where he continued his winning streak with a 1.2-length triumph.
The pinnacle of his nascent career came on January 4, 2025, at the Sunshine Coast, where he contested the inaugural $3 million TAB Magic Millions Sunlight Plate over 1100 meters.
