Cameron Crockett is young, enthusiastic, hardworking, and is quickly making a name for himself as a trainer.
Crockett doesn’t complicate his training methods. His hands-on, natural training methods could be considered “old school” but his success on the track speaks for itself.
Crockett has the patience and ability to retrain and develop horses with success.
Prior to being granted his trainer’s license in June 2011, Crockett worked and rode for his father, renowned horse breaker and trainer Max Crockett. He also had the opportunity to gain considerable experience as the main breaker at Gooree Park, a world class thoroughbred horse stud at Mudgee.
Crockett believes his success as a trainer comes as a result of his hands on approach, an ability to read a horse from its demeanour and temperament and translate that into fit and healthy track performance rather than simply relying on a stopwatch. His aim is to recognise what is different in every horse under his care thereby producing elite athletes capable of turning up at the races sound and willing to perform at their optimum level thereby ensuring greater enjoyment and greater returns to owners.
The Crockett stable is focussed on attracting and retaining the best possible team of horse people to ensure every horse in the stable receives exemplary care. Cameron is the first to say that without exceptional staff there is no successful racing business. Staff are recruited for their horsemanship, empathy and responsiveness. They are individually trained and are committed to implementing the stable’s dedicated systems for every thoroughbred under the Cameron Crockett banner.
