Meet Raoul
A gelding by Kermadec (Darley Australia) out of the Rainbow Quest mare Rosa Raisa. Raoul was as a lightly raced metropolitan placed maiden purchased from the Inglis Online sale in 2021 from Godolphin and was trained by James Cummings. He had 5 starts and never missed a place finishing in the top 3 on every occasion including placing at Warwick Farm and Randwick Kensington. He placed behind some very handy horses in his time including behind the Group 3 Black Opal winner Kalashnikov when beating only 0.4 length as well as placing behind multiple Group and Stakes place horses such as Pippali and Rubamos. His sire Kermadec was a dual G1-winning racehorse and now a Classic sire. His wins included the Group 1 George Main Stakes and the 150th running of the Group 1 Doncaster Mile for his trainer Chris Waller.
As a sire he has had four individual Group 1 winners, as well as the G2-winning juvenile Trobrian. Kermadec’s four Group 1 winners include Group 1 winner Montefilia won Group 1 Ranvet Stakes beating Verry Elegant in the process, Group 1 Flight Stakes, Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes and Group 1 Metropolitan Stakes. Group 1 Queensland Oaks winner Amokura, Group 1 VRC Oaks winner Willowy and Group 1 Toorak Handicap winner Tuvalu. A sire with proven ability to sire top class racehorses overseas as well including dual Group 1 winning (Singapore) Horse of the Year Lim’s Kosciuszko, Group-placed Hong Kong performer Running Glory and Stakes winner Gundec. Raoul’s dam Rosa Raisa herself was placed in France had 3 years old and has an impressive record with 7 runners to the track for 5 winners including the $315k earner Raising Dubai.
Raoul was raced by Godolphin and comes from a royal blue family that stems back to Multiple Group 1 winner Campanologist who won Group races in four different countries across the world. When presented for sale Raoul was a lightly raced progressive type with plenty of upside and great form lines. As a type he had a great deep girth, good length and a great hip. He was a good mover and quiet light on his feet. He is trained by Chris Anderson in the state of the art facilities at Eagle Farm, Brisbane.
