JAMES MCDONALD SIDELINED

Champion jockey James McDonald says he won’t ride for the next month after doctors ruled an injury suffered in a race fall was worse than first thought.

James McDonald was dislodged from his mount Razors in a fall on Wyong Cup Day last Friday, but was permitted to ride the first Saturday of spring the following day.

James Mcdonald was cleared of any breaks but complained of pain in a foot and shoulder.

James Mcdonald was took to X-ray on Tuesday afternoon to reveal he’d be sidelined for the near future.

“Many thanks for all your support and well wishes after my fall at Wyong on Friday,” James Mcdonald wrote.

“I’ve since had more scans that have unfortunately revealed the injury was more severe than first thought.

“Doctors have advised me I’ll need to take the next month off riding to recover and hopefully I’ll be back for the remainder of the spring.”

Racing NSW later revealed the injury to be a left foot fracture for James Mcdonald.
